MEDICAL VAN

THE JOURNEY

Fundraiser

During a 2017 trip to India, we saw first hand how rural villages in that country have very limited access to healthcare and medical services. In December 2019, we launched a fundraiser for the purchase of a medical van that could extend the existing healthcare work of our partner. The response was overwhelming. In four months, we exceeded our fundraising target and raised over $32,000.

The medical van was ordered in March, 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic and lock down in India, the delivery of the medical van was delayed for five months. We are encouraged that in September 2020, the medical van was finally delivered to our partner.

The medical van carries equipment and supplies to rural villages and helps treat illnesses such as malaria, dengue, typhoid, and hepatitis. In a one day period, the medical van can visit up to four villages and treat up to 20-30 patients at each site, greatly increasing the access to basic medical care in rural Indian areas.

In 2021-2022, through your generous donation, we were able to buy a 2nd 4-wheel-drive medical van for $60,000, and raise an additional $10,000 of medical supplies, in order to bring medical care and screenings to those in the most remote areas with the least access.
